Finding the Cure for Angular Stomatitis or Perleche
When you see someone who has cracks or splits along the corners of his or her mouth, what comes into your mind? It is quite easy to assume that the person is suffering from cold sores or herpes. However, cracks or splits along the corners of the mouth are often telltale signs of angular stomatitis or perleche. Angular stomatitis is not related to cold sores or herpes. When temperatures are low, especially during winter, children can easily develop chapped lips, which is a lesser form of angular cheilitis. What children often do is they lick their lips in attempt to ease the pain that they feel but what they are doing only worsens the condition. Having excess amounts of saliva on the lips and at the corners of the mouth only encourages fungi and bacteria to develop on the affected areas.
While angular stomatitis or perleche is not life threatening, many people do their best to find ways to treat their condition. One reason that they have is that the condition is quite painful, and it can also be quite embarrassing to have ulcers develop along the corners of your mouth. However, not many people are successful in finding the right kind of cure for angular cheilitis.

There have been recent discoveries in the treatment of this skin condition that have uncovered effective methods of treating angular cheilitis. The use of topical creams that have 1% hydrocortisone is still the most common method of treatment but this should not stop you from learning more about newer and more effective ways of treating this embarrassing and pain skin problem.
