CHEILOSIS: ANGULAR CHEILOSIS TREATMENT
We all know how irritating the pain of having chapped lips can be. The annoyance that comes from dry cracked lips is enough to drive anyone crazy. There are some who have a severe form that is called Cheilosis. We know a Cheilosis Treatment. Cheilosis is far more painful than the experience of chapped lips. Usually known as Angular Cheilitis, it can be caused in several ways including both fungal and bacterial infections.
We are going to give you a few ways to spot and recognize Cheilosis. If you have cracks or fissures in the corners of you mouth you could possibly have the illness. Along with the cracks there is also redness and swelling. The corners of your mouth may be tender and sore. Sores or ulcers may also develop in the area. These sores may start to bleed or even release pus. The skin in the corner of your mouth may start to swell.
Be careful while eating, talking and even smiling if you are having trouble with Cheilosis because this will be painful. Such activities as eating and talking will re-open the sores and invite infection to enter the openings. The sores that develop in the corner of your mouth may begin to crust over and scab. With the constant cracking and healing of the area can also cause the corners of your mouth to itch.
Angular Cheilosis, or Angular Cheilitis can be diagnosed by either a doctor or dentist. Because there are so many causes of the disease, it can be diagnosed in multiple ways as well. While a dentist may check your dentures to see their fit, a doctor may investigate the illness as part of vitamin deficiencies or even diabetes. In the case of your dentures, this can be caused by the dentures not fitting properly and that aren’t supporting the muscles in the face. Your doctor can test you for these things in correlation with Angular Cheilosis.
Cheilosis can be either a fungal or a bacterial infection and will be diagnosed accordingly. If it is fungal, then it is caused by the very fungus that is responsible for a yeast infection. Have your doctor test a culture of the area to see if you have bacteria present. Cheilosis can also inflict an immune system deficiency that will be exposed if your doctor performs a blood test. A doctor or dentist can also understand a diagnosis by asking if you lick the corners of your mouth or bite your lips often.
Cheilosis can be treated in several different ways depending on the cause. If you notice the symptoms of Cheilosis you can go to your doctor or dentist to have it diagnosed. You do not have to put up with the irritation and the pain of Angular Cheilosis.
